SUMMARY:
Responsible to support the Engineering Department by creating and maintaining complete and accurate documentation of new and existing product designs. Analyzes sketches, written and verbal instructions, notes, and other materials supporting the completion of drawing sets. Utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) programs to produce, revise, and maintain fabrication drawings, three-dimensional models, and technical drawings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to inform about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
2. Assign and update part numbers and bills of materials (BOM’s) in the company ERP system, 3D parts library or other systems as needed.
3. Develop detailed drawings of new parts and packages and modify existing drawings from rough sketches or verbal instructions.
4. Review new job assignments with the Engineering team and performs quality inspections on all drawings.
5. Provide installation drawings as needed.
6. Prepare drawings using existing customer schematics and/or generic CAD drawings.
7. Create and process engineering change orders (ECO’s) to document modifications to existing parts and the creation of new parts.
8. Utilize and maintain the existing filing system for all documentation including maintaining 3D CAD library.
9. Support other departments by providing product information, copies of drawings, BOM’s, or other documentation as requested.
10. Interprets complex assemblies and generates individual component manufacturing drawings in Auto-Cad.
11. Ensures drawings are done to specifications (per code and customer specifications) and company format (drawings properly labeled and dimensioned).
12. Apply knowledge of product components to assist in cost reduction efforts, product improvements, new product development, or other projects.
13. Other duties as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Engage and work collaboratively with engineering teams to provide necessary CAD design and drafting documentation and reports.
  • Performs layouts as needed to verify dimensions.
  • Modifies drawings as directed.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends in design technology content creation and management.
  • Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety to others in accordance with Newterra’s safety policies and procedures. This includes reporting all safety concerns, near-misses, and incidents to their manager.
  • Adhere to the company processes as detailed in Newterra’s online systems and programs and bring forward ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for completing all assigned training applicable to your position in the applicable timeframe.
  • Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Newterra’s Delegation of Authority.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two-year Technical Drafting Degree or Certificate.
  • Minimum two years of drafting experience using AutoCAD© and SolidWorks or similar CAD program.
  • Experience with pressure vessel designs, filtration, fabrication, and manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of Inventor Auto-CAD, Vault, SolidWorks, RCS, Microsoft Dynamics, TDF, and Code Ware (Compress).
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the water treatment industry, including ASME code.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to think in a three-dimensional manner.
  • An abundance of patience to see a complicated project to the end.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written & verbal.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May be required to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer. Complex thinking and analysis are required. See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Utilization of controls, machines, or computers to support daily work activities. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Work may involve considerable standing, stooping, bending, or sitting for long periods of time. May lift up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Generally, works in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, may be required to visit client sites and may be exposed to indoor or outdoor industry specific elements such as loud noise, hazardous equipment, and materials. Company safety standards must be always followed.
